4 Steps to creating the perfect Promotional Newsletter 4 Steps to creating the perfect Promotional Newsletter

Sending out a newsletter to your contacts database is a great way to keep in touch with clients and prospects. You don’t need to send a lengthy message, just enough to keep customers up to date with company news, improve brand awareness and build a relationship with your core audience. It takes a bit of time to create a good newsletter, but it’s a valuable marketing tool. Design your newsletter as if it were a newspaper and ensure that the content is useful to your readers. You want clear lines and divisions between your content and a simple layout with basic fonts. Keep to just a few colour schemes too.

Why you need a 'To Do List' Why you need a 'To Do List'

I am a great believer in lists and my first job on a Monday morning is to list all my tasks for the week.

If you have never made a ‘To Do List’, do give it a try as it is a great way to clarify what you should be concentrating on and focusing you for the week ahead.

O.K. so perhaps when you have listed all your tasks you find that there are so many that your list now looks a little daunting.

5 Reasons why you should use social media 5 Reasons why you should use social media

It is surprising how many business people I meet who are not using social media to promote their business. Some people are not convinced that social media works and others say that they cannot be bothered. If you are one of these, I think it is a good idea just to dip your toe into the ‘Social Media Puddle’ by setting up a personal Facebook Page and Twitter Account. See what others are posting and tweeting about and join in when you find something which interests you. Once you have got the ‘Social Media Bug’ set up a Facebook Page and Twitter Account for your business.

Are you working effectively? Are you working effectively?

When you take a lunch break do you remain sat at your desk eating a sandwich while you continue to work? A recent survey of 2000 workers showed that nearly half of them rarely left the office during their lunch hour but remained at their desks checking their emails while eating.

5 tips on how to get more clicks on Twitter 5 tips on how to get more clicks on Twitter

There is a lot of information on the internet about how to increase your Twitter profile and you could spend days trying to work out what you should do and what you should not do. I think the best thing is to try different types of Tweets and more importantly, go with what you are most comfortable with and don’t try too hard. You can monitor which of your Tweets receive the best response by setting up your Twitter account so that you are notified whenever someone retweets you, favourites a Tweet or replies to a Tweet. You will soon find out what works for your followers.

How hard can it be to ask for help? How hard can it be to ask for help?

I am the same as most people and find it difficult to admit that I need assistance with something. It is partly to do with pride but also because I am a bit of a control freak and have set ideas on how things should be done. As an example, a peek inside my clothes cupboard will reveal that my tee shirts are stacked according to colour and style, i.e. in the white pile, the short sleeved are on the top, ¾ length sleeves next and then long sleeved … yes I know!

Behind the new look for Ty Cae PA & Office Services Behind the new look for Ty Cae PA & Office Services

Welcome to the brand new look for Ty Cae PA and Office Services! I have recently had a total brand refresh, working with Creating Media to design a new logo, stationery, banner and website for my business.

We started with a meeting at Ty Cae HQ – where Creating Media thought it would be a good idea to use the pastel shades from around the building in the logo. I also wanted to include overlapping circles to represent the wide range of complementary services I offer, but at the same time keep a clean and minimal feel to all of my new materials. From a range of initial designs we drilled down till we found the perfect logo.
